Cookbook Club & Potluck
First of the month & Select Mondays 5:00pm-6:00pm
Grab a spice/seasoning kit and try the recipe that comes with it like usual. Then, so long as COVID numbers remain low, join us in person for a themed potluck. Kits are available up at the circulation desk.
May – Turmeric – Creamy Pakora Soup – Potluck on May 23rd (Bring a dish inspired by another culture)
June – Garlic Powder – Homemade Spaghetti Sauce / Garlic Breadsticks – Potluck on June 20th (Bring something traditionally Italian)
July – Dill Weed – Dill Pickles – Potluck on July 18th (Bring something that requires something to be pickled or contains pickles)
August – Rubbed Sage – Tuscan Onion Soup – Potluck on August 22nd (Bring a soup or bisque)
Summer Reading Program
May 27th - August 13th
Summer is back and that means Summer Reading Programs for Everyone! The Adult program is simple: Sign up on Bean-stack or have one of the librarians do it for you. Read at least 5 books to earn a small bag of goodies and coupons. Every book you read after that gets you 1 virtual raffle ticket towards a grand prize. Raffle tickets can be redeemed on the Beanstack app for entry into the prize you are interested in.
Movies for Grownups

The library offers free movies for adults the first Thursday of each month @2PM Grab a friend or two and join us! Due to delays in DVD release dates, most of the official lineup of movies will be released end of May. Sponsored by the Friends of Brown Deer Library.

Coloring & Conversation
Select Fridays 10am-12pm
We supply the coloring pages and colored pencils; you bring the conversation. Adults are welcome to pop in and color and converse select Fridays 10AM-12PM in the library’s Adult Program Room, so long as COVID numbers remain low. Use our supplies or bring your own. Come when you can and leave when you must. The next Coloring and Conversation dates are May 13th, June 10th, July 8th & August 12th
Third Wednesday of the month 5:30pm-6:30pm
Books are always better when discussed!New members are welcome. Participants must register for each month, at which point the book will be waiting for you up at the Circulation Counter. Interested parties may register online, by stopping at the Reference Desk, or calling the library.

Riverkeepers. It is sure to be informative and maybe you will find a way to get out there and give back to the community.

Acrylic pour art is a fun technique that creates dramatic, contemporary results in minutes. With this all-ages program, we’ll be creating beautiful works of art by pouring paint over our canvas and allowing the paint to marble/bubble itself. Have fun pouring your art.
Tuesday August 9th 1:00pm-2:00pm
Mosaics are pictures or patterns created by arranging smaller pieces together. It is an exercise in creating something beautiful out of a lot of disparate parts. Traditionally, stone, tile, or glass are used. But we will be using fabric to create our patterns. Some basic shapes and outlines will be provided. It’s up to you to put them together just as we start to come together once more.

There is something luxurious about receiving homemade paper products. Come to our class and learn the basics. It’s easy enough to make at home and makes a beautiful gift.
