Job Opportunities at the Brown Deer Public Library

A Library Assistant is an integral part of the Brown Deer Public Library team, a small suburban library on the northern border of Milwaukee County. The candidate will promote a positive image of the library and reinforce the value of its services through courteous customer interaction, confident technical ability, creative problem-solving, compassionate customer service, consistent performance, general curiosity, a strong work ethic, making productive use of work time, and excellent dependability.
The candidate will work fewer than 20 hours per week on regularly scheduled day, evening and weekend shifts. Employees are not required to live in the Village of Brown Deer.

This is a paid internship where the Intern will perform standard reference and program work and gain practical experience in a library. The Intern will perform a wide variety of public library duties. The Intern may be assigned to a specific project or task based on the individual’s skills and interests. This candidate will promote a positive image of the library and reinforce the value of its services through conscientious collection management, relevant programming, engaged reference assistance, enthusiastic readers advisory, confident leadership, creative outreach, sincere customer service, consistent performance, general curiosity, and excellent dependability. The Intern is not required to live in the Village of Brown Deer. Minimum schedule is 12 hours per week.  

The Library Reference Intern position will require approximately 15-20 hours of work per week on regularly scheduled day, evening and weekend shifts. Employees are not required to live in the Village of Brown Deer.
