Cookbook Club Kits
1st of the Month onward, while supplies last
Like we have been doing, every month we will provide a spice/seasoning and recipe (or two). Kits are available up at the circulation desk. Everything inside is yours to keep. Just return the container within 7 days. But we are shaking things up. Every season or two will focus on a new continent or region and the foods that are native to them. Join us as we explore the world through food. This season we head to South America.
February – Potato Starch – Kissel – Estonia is the next stop on our globe-trotting culinary adventure. This sweet, pudding-like soup is a perennial favorite in many a holiday celebration.
March – Paprika – Goulash – How could we cover Hungary without this classic dish similar to a beef stew but with a unique flavor profile?
April – Bay Leaves – Borscht – Famous throughout Eastern Europe but originating in Ukraine, this classic beet dish has even picky eaters reaching for more.
May – Flour – 5 Mother Sauces – France is well-known in culinary circles for its exquisite cuisine, the basis for many of its dishes being the so-called 5 mother sauces that transform into a host of different sauces to try. And best of all, understanding them is fairly simple to accomplish.
June – Dill – Spanakopita – With so much history and culture, Greece might be a little hard to nail down to a single recipe. But one thing that all regions of this country have a variation of is Spanakopita, a spinach and cheese pastry that has Popeye guarding his stash.
