About the Event

Cookbook Club Kits

Available 1st of the month, while supplies last

Every month join us as we explore a different country from around the globe. This season, we will be visiting Africa. Learn a little about the culture and cuisine and try out a recipe or two… some months there might even be a surprise. Kits are available at the circulation desk. Everything inside is yours to keep. Just return the container within 7 days.

August – Ghana – Jollof Rice – Crushed Red Pepper – A Staple of West-African cuisine, this dish is made from rice, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and various different spices and seasonings and is absolutely crammed with flavor.

September – Madagascar – Hen’omby Ritra – Ginger Powder – In Madagascar, every home has its own recipe for Hen’omby Ritra, or braised beef. It is rich and juicy, with a slightly exotic flavor due to its use of ginger powder.

October - Sudan - Ful Medames- Cumin - A classic vegetarian North African breakfast in general, this dish holds a special place in Sudanese cuisine, being often seen as their national dish.

And back due to popular demand, November and December will have a special call out to months past.

November: Perfectly Roasted Parsnips - Just in time for your Thanksgiving feast, this dish will have guests asking for an encore.

December: DIY Chai - Sweet and spiced, heated for comfort, this drink calls out for those cold winter nights around the fireplace.
