About the Event

Cookbook Club Kits

The 1st of the month, while supplies last

Like we have been doing, every month we will provide a spice/seasoning and recipe (or two). Kits are available up at the circulation desk. Everything inside is yours to keep. Just return the container within 7 days. But we are shaking things up. Every season or two will focus on a new continent or region and the foods that are native to them. Join us as we explore the world through food. This season we travel through Africa and start into Asia.

January – Cardamom Pods & Fenugreek – Niter Kibbeh – In Ethiopia, this spiced and clarified butter is often a foundational ingredient. Bring some of the flavors of Ethiopia to your dinner table.

February – Coriander – Rolex – While you won’t have an expensive watch at the end of this, you will get a chance to try a popular Ugandan street food.

March –Turmeric Powder – Chicken Tagine – The name of both the dish and the clay pot in which it traditionally cooks, tagine is native to Morocco. But don’t worry. No specialty cookware is required. Just a slow cooker.

April – Cinnamon Sticks – Chicken Pho – One of the most popular Vietnamese dishes in the United States is pho, a distinctive

May – Chili flakes – Sadza Nenyama – A classic Zimbabwean stew.
