About the Event
Cookbook Club Kits
1st of the Month onward, while supplies last
It has been a fun 7 years exploring the globe and different cultures but we have finally reached the end. We are officially winding down after hitting at least a few countries in every continent. Every month we focused on a country, a recipe or two that is iconic, popular, or nationally recognized by that country, and an ingredient without which the recipe would fall flat. This season, we will be finishing up Oceania and winding down to past hits. Join us as we explore the world through food. Kits are available up at the circulation desk.
Everything inside is yours to keep. Just return the container within 7 days.
September – Sugar –Pumpkin Rice – A traditional comfort dish of the Marshall Islands, pumpkin rice (locally known as rice-banke) is a simple porridge-like dish that combines pumpkin, rice, coconut milk, and sugar for that warm feeling of home (usually served warm and with fish).
October – Chili Flakes – Kokoda – Fiji’s national dish, this creamy coconut ceviche-like dish “cooks” using fresh citrus juices and is then tossed with a thick sauce of coconut milk, chilies, onions, and tomatoes.
November – Cayenne Pepper – Sweet and Spicy Apple Chips – With a gentle warm heat, these chips put a new spin on the term health kick!
December – Curry Powder – Turkey and Apple Arugula Salad – We’ve had our turkey. Now it’s time to reinvent it a little with this peppery salad.
