About the Event

Retro Science

The 3rd Monday of the month at 1pm

Who says kids are the only ones who can have fun with science experiments? Relive some of your childhood with these blasts from the past. All that pent-up hot air you’ve been saving can power some cool vehicles. Not to mention getting into the gutter and running your competition ragged. If we have time, we might even see how far pen and paper can really take you.

Soda Geysers May 20th – Yee Old Faithful Soda Fountains erupting in all their sugary, carbonated glory. Join us as we discover the science behind soda and mentos… or just have fun watching soda explode skyward.

Balloon-Powered Cars June 17th – How far can your own hot air take you? Design a car out of everyday objects, attach a balloon, and see whose car can cross the finish line first.

Gutter Boat Racing July 15th - Get your mind in the gutter with the Brown Deer Library. We’re back to the races and bringing them to the adults. Create your boat and see what it takes to get it to the finish line.

Paper Experiments August 19th - How far can pen and paper really take you? Try your hand at stepping through an index card. How many times can you really fold a piece of paper? How much weight can a few sheets of paper really hold? Experiment with this and more.
